Knot class

Jack taught me a few new knots on the trip, here are two pictures. They're taken on my phone camera, so the focus is not great.

Here is a monkey fist knot. It creates a heavy end on the end of a line that can be used for heaving a line to somebody. It's a pain in the butt to tie!




Here is a splice and whipping. You take the end of a rope and attach it back into the strands of itself to create a permanent loop on the end of the rope:
